Aheloy (Aхелой) - Aheloy is a small tourist settlement
situated between Ravda and Pomorie. The village itself is away from the
coastline, which prevented it from turning into a mass summer resort.
The road connecting Burgas to Varna passes through Aheloi and makes the
village hectic during the summer. The proximity of Pomorie, Burgas and
Sunny beach is also a benefit for those who have limited budget and
select the inexpensive accommodation in Aheloy. Numerous accommodation
opportunities are available in the village. It has restaurants and cafés
that offer good quality of service. Aheloy has additional facilities
like a harbor suitable for both boats and yachts. It takes about 15
minutes to drive from Bourgas Airport to the village, which is ideally
located just before the traffic jams that are usual in the summer season
on the road towards Sunny.
Aheloy is known for a historic battle between Bulgarians and
Byzantines that took place in 917. Bulgarians managed to gain victory
since tsar Simeon, the current ruler, participated in the battle
alongside his soldiers. A river carrying the same name passes through
Aheloy. Many fish species live in it and attract fishermen to the area.
Regular transportation leads from the village to Bourgas and Sunny
Beach.
Aheloy is also famous for its beautiful fruit gardens and vineyards
and is a unique mixture of still preserved green sites, calm and
pleasant sea and 56 thousand square meters sandy beaches. It’s a great
place for people who try to find tranquility at the seashores.
In contrast to the nearby resorts, Aheloy has remained intact from
the invasion of huge and overcrowded hotel complexes, big and noisy
restaurants and public houses. Despite booming construction works along
the Black Sea coastline, the village has preserved its calmness and
serenity and the villagers are warm-hearted and hospitable people. There
are no large-scale construction sites but there is much air, calmness
and serenity.
Aheloy is a place for people who seek a quiet holiday at
the seaside. The village falls within an environmentally-sound area,
the river is clean and it is a favorite place for the fans of fishing.
